Before you apply

Planning Director contact information: Oksana Polhuy, oksana@lapelindiana.org.

Certain types of petitions require a pre-filing meeting. Contact the planning staff for a pre-filing meeting to go over your project. An overview of the project is necessary to clarify what standards apply, what applications apply to your project, how to prepare and submit an application packet, and understand the overall timeframe of the review.

Application Deadline

Some petitions require a public hearing, and thus, require public notice via newspaper and mailed notice. Due to that, the applications must be submitted at least a month prior to a scheduled meeting per the Calendar of Meetings and Filing Deadlines to ensure enough time to prepare, publish and mail the notice.

Application Requirements and Process

The Application Forms and Information contain brief overview of the application steps and general submittal requirements. More rules and procedures regarding filing and reviewing petitions can be found in the PC Rules and Procedures.

Permits

Certain types of petitions and permits are reviewed only by staff. Please, refer to the “Permits” page for more information.
